HEY THERE, LET'S TALK PRIVACY

Learning Leader AI Inc. (that’s us!), and our affiliated company Smartfirm Inc., are serious about privacy. And we’re committed to ensuring that the personal information we collect about you is used, disclosed and protected in accordance with the law.

This privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information. If you access or use our products and services (such as this website (www.learningleader.ai), our e-learning assistant, or our customer portal), or communicate with us through our support team, website or social media channels, we’ll take it as a sign that you accept this policy. If you’re not on board, just close this page and we’ll go our separate ways.

WHAT WE COLLECT (SPOILER: NOT YOUR LIFE STORY)

When you access or use our products or services or communicate with us, we may collect your name and contact information (e.g., email address, telephone number and social media handle). Pretty standard stuff.

Our AI-based assistant allows users to engage in an interactive learning process by asking questions. When using this chat functionality, you may be asked to provide information to personalize your learning experience, including your name, occupation, and course familiarity. It’s your call whether you want to give this personal information, keeping in mind that conversations within Learning Leader’s chat functionality will be collected and could be visible to others. Use caution when providing your opinions, evaluations and comments and do not submit information of a personal nature, particularly health, financial or other sensitive information. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

We also use automatic data collection technologies, including cookies and web beacons, to collect information about your access to and use of our products and services. This will generally include non-identifying information about your location, equipment, browsing patterns and communications while accessing and using our products and services. You can instruct your browser to refuse tracking technologies, but you might not be able to use some parts or functionality of our products and services if you do so.

WHY WE COLLECT THIS STUFF

We’re not data hoarders – we collect your personal information to help us to manage our relationship. This includes to:

  • communicate with you and provide you with information;
  • grant you access to our products and services and monitor your usage;
  • monitor message interaction allowances and collect payment;
  • understand your needs and personalize your user experience;
  • provide user support and troubleshooting if issues arise;
  • make our products and services and business operations even better;
  • send you updates, offers and company news (but only if you want them);
  • perform analytics and data analysis on our products and services;
  • comply with our regulatory, legal, accounting and reporting obligations; and
  • do anything else you have agreed we can do.

CONSENT: IT'S KIND OF OUR THING

When you provide your personal information, you imply your consent to us using it in accordance with this policy. If you ever want to revoke your consent, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. Just be aware that we may no longer be able to provide you with our products and services or be able to communicate with you.

For marketing emails, we will ask for your express consent (typically with a checkbox that says something like “Yes, send me the good stuff!”). If you change your mind you can click the unsubscribe link we include in the email.

WHO GETS TO SEE YOUR INFORMATION

We may disclose your personal information to:
  • our employees and affiliates who have a need to know that personal information for the purposes set out in this policy;
  • service providers, contractors and other third parties we use to support our business (including account management, cloud storage and processing, information technology, payment processing and collection, and professional advisors);
  • third parties that you have agreed to receive offers, promotions or other marketing from;
  • legal authorities where necessary to comply with any direction, order, law, or legal process; and
  • anyone else you’ve agreed we can provide it to.
We may use and disclose anonymized or aggregated information, and information that does not identify you, for legitimate business purposes. Other than as set out in this policy, we won’t sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to any third party.

HOW WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE

Except as otherwise permitted or required by law, we will only retain your personal information for as long as needed. Under some circumstances we may anonymize or aggregate your personal information so that it can’t be traced back to you.

We use appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative measures designed to secure your personal information, including data access controls and encryption. Once your personal information is no longer required, we will destroy or erase it in accordance with our data retention policy.

In some cases, your personal information may be processed and stored outside of Canada. For example, we use servers located in an Amazon Web products and services data centre in the United States. When we process, transfer or store your personal information outside of Canada, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient adheres to privacy and security standards consistent with this policy and applicable privacy legislation. However, your personal information may still be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is held and may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in that jurisdiction.

ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you by contacting our Privacy Officer at the details below. We may request information from you to help us confirm your identity and your right to access, and change, your personal information. The law sometimes prevents us from providing access to your information. If we can’t fulfill your request, we’ll explain why (subject to any legal restrictions).

SOMETIMES CHANGE IS NECESSARY

We will post changes we make to our policy on this page. If these changes are likely to have a significant impact on how we manage your personal information, we will notify you through an announcement on our home page. The date the policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page.

HOW TO REACH US (WE'RE FRIENDLY, PROMISE)

If you want to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, or have any questions or comments regarding our privacy practices, please contact our Privacy Officer in writing at privacyofficer@learningleaderai.com.

If we do not address your questions or concerns to your satisfaction, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. But we hope it doesn’t come to that – we’re reasonable people who value your privacy and want to do right by you.
